This era of 1880 and 1920 was also a period of industrialization and it was a period of progress for the United States. The immigrants moved to the country and started working in the factories and mills of America. They colonised for lower salaries as compared to the nationals. The great influx of immigrants led to the increased crowding in the cities and hence the aid of the infrastructure became ve ry difficult. This led to problems like overcrowding accompanied by poor conditions of living for the immigrants. The crime rate also increased due to the rise in these problems. The increase in the number of immigrants created problems for the nationals as well and hence the immigrants became the targets of discrimination.
